The schools, Armadale Academy and Deans Community High School, which opened in 2009, also act as “Community Sport Hubs” to the local community offering swimming, keep-fit, sports pitches, and dance studios to external users.

The emphasis was on increasing the school’s sense of civic presence. For example, Deans Community High school was located close to the public highway encouraging strong community involvement in wide ranging activities including music and drama.

Armadale Academy was opened by Fiona Hyslop MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Lifelong Learning, who stated that the new school building was “an inspirational example of everything a school should be”.

Kajima Partnerships, in conjunction with its long-standing joint venture partner InfraRed Capital Partners acquired 100% interest in the project in March 2013.
