HIGH HEATON COMMUNITY LIBRARY OPENS AS PART OF NEWCASTLE LIBRARIES PFI PROJECT

As part of the £25m Newcastle Libraries PFI Project the new look High Heaton Community Library opened for business on the 22nd September 2008. Its curving façade is set to become a distinctive landmark and the new heart of the High Heaton community.

The new facility contains state of the art technology including self issue and return terminals, public access computers and a fully equipped 30 seat community room with interactive presentation and teaching aids for use by local groups.

The library also contains a dedicated children's area with a bright fun look. The central feature of the library is a glass screen containing etched designs created by a local artist and inspired by the memorial tress in the nearby Spinney.
