COMPREHENSIVE REFURBISHMENT OF GROVE HOUSE GETS UNDERWAY

Kajima Properties, a leading property developer and investor, today handed over Grove House in Marylebone to Wates Interiors to begin a £3.3m refurbishment of the 33,000 sq ft office building, the former headquarters of Kajima Europe. The comprehensive refurbishment over 7 floors will create a flexible & sustainable space, achieve a BREEAM rating of Excellent and is expected to secure an EPC rating ‘B’, setting the benchmark for sustainable retrofitting of existing office stock.

The scheme, which has been designed by award-winning architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, comprises a ‘back to shell’ remodelling of this landmark post-modern style building to create 25,000 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation.

The Wates team proposed a thorough and innovative solution approaching the project in a pragmatic manner, developing a programme that allowed for timely completion in the quickest and most economical duration with minimal disruption. The refurbishment is scheduled for completion in October 2011 shortly after the opening of the new Westminster Magistrates’ Court opposite.
