Walbottle campus played host to the inaugural Schools 500 sports event on 23-26 June 2011. The event saw hundreds of people attend the school to support and encourage young competitors from across Newcastle schools.

The Schools 500 Games are the largest single-authority multi-sport event ever to be held in the UK. The games had 5,000 children competing in 24 sports during three days accross the hosting sites.

The competitions were excellently delivered and supported by Walbottle campus and their staff, local sports clubs, their volunteers and national governing bodies of sport, who gave up their time to provide young sports people the opportunity to take part in lots of different events. Walbottle campus played host to 7 sports across the weekend.

We would like to congratulate all competitors and organisers for a fantastic weekend of sports and activities and look forward to Walbottle Campus being a host school in the 2012 event!
