INTERSERVE KAJIMA JV APPOINTED PREFERRED BIDDER FOR FIRST PF2 PROJECT

The Education Funding Agency has chosen an Interserve Kajima joint venture as selected bidder for the first PF2 batch of the Government’s Priority School Building Programme.

The £150m project is the first to be funded using the Government’s new PF2 private finance route and will see seven secondary schools built across Hertfordshire, Luton and Reading.

Interserve Kajima will be responsible for the design and construction of the schools and hard FM maintenance for the 25 year concession.

The schools included in the batch are;

  • Bishop’s Hatfield School, Hatfield, Hertfordshire (Academy)
  • Goffs School, near Cheshunt, Hertfordshire (Academy)
  • Kings Langley School, Kings Langley, Hertfordshire (Academy)
  • Longdean School, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire (Academy)
  • Reading Girls’ School, Reading, Berkshire (Foundation)
  • Stopsley High School, Luton, Bedfordshire (Foundation)
  • Westfield Academy, Watford, Hertfordshire (Academy)

Interserve Kajima and the schools are now working through a six-month detailed design stage that will lead to financial close in October 2014.

Construction is due to start from November through to March 2015, with planned completions scheduled for August 2016.
